$760 was raised in 2006 and $2600 in 2007 and $6,300 in 2008. Every penny was donated to

The '09 ride raised an unbelievable $8,000
making us able to grant our
second wish
to a young man in Castroville, TX.

David wanted to be able to play games like everyone else.
With the help of our ride and Make-A-Wish,
David can now bowl, swing and a few other fun things in his own backyard!

These men put their hearts and backs into setting up David's playground.

Now David can bowl...

and David can feel the air race past him as he swings.

Thanks to generous donations of donuts, tacos, water and coffee...the riders were able to start the ride happy.
Pastor Andy Tyson and Joyce Haass man the tables.

The Ride

Lining up at Tractor City in Castroville

Heading out with a Castroville P.D. escort

Douglas Haass, co-founder of the ride, leads the ride. They also stopped the traffic on Hwy. 90,
both ways, so that our trail riders could cross the highway safely.

We turned onto Mexico Street off of Hwy. 90 and headed down to the Medina River

Taking a much needed 'pit' stop

Heading back to Hwy. 90 to have lunch at Sammy's Restaurant

The trailer Douglas was pulling carried extra supplies and had a sign displaying all the donors that made the ride worthwhile. Clayborne Boehle of Hondo made the sign for us as a donation to our ride.

Up and down, round and round on the way back to take a lunch break.

Bringing up the rear is Kenneth Adlong, co-founder of the ride

Saying thanks to the guys who helped keep our ride safe, 2 officers of the
Castroville Police Department

Douglas welcoming all and giving the blessing before the meal

The Adlong Deere's drying off before lunch.
The young lady wearing the crash helmet was carrying on a tradition of having accidents,
since the helmet belongs to her grandmother (Kathy Adlong) who hit a tree last year during the trail ride.
Douglas had the helmet made for Kathy after the 2008 trail ride.
Kass, riding one of her grandfather's (Kenneth Adlong) tractor bumped into another of his tractors.
So the helmet was passed on.

Members of the Old Iron Trail Ride and the staff of Sammy's Restaurant present $8,000
to our Make-A-Wish Ambassador

As we pulled into Sammy's for lunch the sky's opened and the rain continued
throughout our lunch break. Below are pictures of everyone waiting to see if the rain would
stop anytime soon. It didn't!

Realizing that the heavens weren't going to close anytime soon, everyone loaded
up and headed back to Tractor City to load up and head home!

Everyone was soaking wet!!! But determined to ride again in 2010!

Even though the trail ride was cut short, everyone agreed it was a great day and were making
plans to participate in 2010's ride starting in downtown D'Hanis!

Come out, donate, visit with the riders, or join us for a fantastic day making money
for a Make-A-Wish kid. All monies raised by this ride are used to make a wish
to a local child with a dream.

It's still not too late to make a donation this year! If you  would like to make a donation,
